Inside the Characters Studio (Day 22)

Welcome to “Inside the Character Studio” please give a warm welcome to our host; Oliver Clozeoff!

(APPLAUSE!)

Ladies and gentlemen please, would yah bring yer attention to me. Welcome to tha show, please come inside! Today we will continue our in depth look into tha life and mind of Zander Bearach, on: “Inside the Characters Studio”. I am your host Oliver Clozeoff, and with only seven days left there is no time tah lose, so let’s get started.

Seven days…You mean I am almost done?

Aye.

Thank the Nine!

I thought you might be pleased.

You bet, I can’t wait to get back to bottling up my feelings and hiding my demons in a deep dark cavern.

That’s not exactly healthy boyo.

Healthy shmealthy.

That’s very mature of yah. So the topic of today is tha future.

Like flying cars and space stations around your anus?

Yah mean Uranus don’t yah lad?

…Sure…that’s what I meant…totally…

Right…Anyway, no, I mean what would yah tell yer future self? What would you like tah say tah him?

Oh, like a wish list sorta thing.

A what now?

You know, you make a list of the things you hope to accomplish by a certain time in your life write it down store it away and then read it when you’re older to see if you accomplished what you wanted.

Okay. Aye, we can do something like that.

Okay, this I can do.

Yah seem eager for this lad.

Not really but it is something fairly simple, and I am pretty certain of the things I want to accomplish.

Well then Zander mi’boy have at it, we are all ears.

Can I do this anyway I want or is there some sort of form I have to use or something?

Do as yah see fit lad.

Okay, thanks.

Future Zander,

Hopefully, Skyrim has not killed us and someone else is reading this. I have great confidence that we have become a master blacksmith and with any luck we have managed to complete the task uncle Gilchryst gave to us with his last breath. NEVER FORGET! I hope this letter finds us with a loving family, that fills us with happiness. NEVER FORGET! I truly hope we have made some good friends, that you hold dear in your heart. NEVER FORGET! Finally, I hope this finds us with a restful heart and a peaceful mind because we never forgot.

Sincerely,

Zander Bearach

That was nice boyo, but one question.

What’s that?

What is with all then never forgets and such?

Oh that, that is so I never forget.

Forget what?

That some Skeever loving bastard stole everything I ever cared about or loved away from me.

Oh,…I see. I honestly do not know what tah say lad.

About what?

Yer letter tah yer self in tha future.

You shouldn’t say anything, it is not for you, it is for me…in the future.

True enough mi’boy, true enough. I do hope all your goals are met when yah read that next.

Me too.

Well lad, are yah up for some questions?

Sure, lets do this.

Alright let’s see here how about young lass, with the “I take what I want, and keep the rest.“ T-shirt on. Do yah have a question lass?

Yeah, I was wondering. Where do you see yourself and what do you think you will be doing five years from now?

Good question, thank you. In five years I would hope to have some more experience under my belt on my way to becoming a master blacksmith, as well as having achieved my other goals. Though I doubt I will have a family by then but who knows maybe I will. I hope that answers your question.

Thank yah lass for tha question. We have time for more questions. Yah up for it lad?

Bring it on.

Okay, you there in the front row with the spider web designed t-shirt. Yah have a question for Zander?

Yes. Right. Well, it is actually a two part-er.

Okay, shoot.

First, were you on a team in the arena and if so which team were you on, Yellow or Blue? Second, how did you get out of the Arena?

First, yes I was on a team, but it was neither Yellow nor Blue. There are actually five different teams in the arena. You are given a team based on the reason you were brought to the arena. Yellow was for minor stuff like shop lifting. Blue was a little harsher, it was for things like bar fights and such things. Green was the middle of the road, major thefts and repeat offenders. Red was more harsh, for violent criminals like rapists etc… And Black is for the lifers, murders, spies that sort of thing. As for which one I belonged to I won’t be going into that.

To answer your second question, I walked out…I hope that answers your questions. Thanks again for asking them.

Well lad, you were kinda cryptic on those answers but yah did give a good answer tah one of them so I suppose it is okay. So, one more question. That okay with yah?

Okay, why not.

Okay, lets see. How about the gentlemen in tha back row, wearing the sunglasses, hat and trench coat. Do yah have a question for Zander?

I sure do, *cough* I mean yes, I do. Zander, how did you come to be in the arena?

Good question, I am sorry but have we met some where? Yah seem familiar somehow.

*cough* No, no, you are mistaken I am just an audience member…

Are yah sure? Yah seem awful familiar…

Is Zander going to answer my question or not?

Oh, aye, sorry. Zander mi’boy care tah answer tha man?

Not gonna happen.

There yah go…wait what?

I don’t want to answer that. Next question.

Zander, lad, yah have tah answer him.

I really don’t want to.

C’mon lad, yah have tah.

I don’t have to do anything…

Would you just answer the damned question! You always do this! You never answer the hard questions! You always find some way of skirting the question. Man up and answer the question or I will answer it for you!

Whoa, who the hell do you think you are?

Aye, calm down sir, yah have no right speaking like that.

Who am I? I am the man whose career you got thrown in the crapper…LITERALLY!

Who?

What the…God you are so damn dense! It’s Jim!

Jim…Jim…Jim. Nope name doesn’t ring a bell.

Jim Brisk. You mother fucker don’t act like you don’t know me!

Hmmmm….N-no still drawing a blank.

Why you! I am gonna kick your ass, you question dodging waste of space!

*laughs* Security, please escort this person out. Thank yah kindly for tha question Jim ol boy but, yer services are no longer needed.

What the!…Hey! Get your damn hands off of me! Do you know who I am? I am Jim Brisk…You haven’t heard the last of this you bastards!

Oh, but I think we have, wouldn’t yah say Zander mi’boy.

Who was that guy?

*laughs* Now about that question.

What question?

Tha one Jim asked.

You want me to answer the question of a raving lunatic?

Aye.

What? Why?

It was a damn good question that’s why.

But, I don’t wanna.

Yah have tah.

*sigh* Really?

Aye. Tha yer fans wanna know.

I want to hate you so much right now.

But yah can’t.

I know, it is rather irritating.

I know lad, being loveable is a curse. Now, if yah would kindly answer tha question, we can move onto a real audience question.

If I have to…

Yah do.

Fine…

Well?

A few weeks after the incident with Syndahl my uncle asked me to run an errand. Someone special ordered some rare book and wanted it delivered to Riften. Uncle asked me to deliver the book to his friend in Bruma where it would be delivered to the client in Riften. I didn’t mind making the long journey to Bruma, it allowed me to get away from the town and Syndahl, for a little while at least. I made the long trip to Bruma and met up with my uncles friend, a shady looking and paranoid fellow, who kept asking me over and over again if I was followed. After finally convincing the man I wasn’t followed he took the book and we parted ways. I stayed in Bruma for an extra day to rest for the return trip home.

Okay, so what does this have tah do with how yah ended up in the Arena?

I am getting to it.

Ah, than please continue.

I got back to Weye late, but I didn’t feel much like being there, so I headed to the Imperial City before anyone saw me. I made my way to the Market District and headed straight for “The Feed Bag”, a local tavern, where all the merchants go when the work day ends. It was late, the place was empty except for the bar keep. Normally I would just get some food, eat and leave, but that night I decided I would have a few drinks as well. I remember talking to the bar keep just making idle chit chat and drinking when I heard the ringing of his door bell and a couple of Thalmor walked in and went straight to the back table. I stopped talking and just continued to drink.

I don’t remember much from that point on but the next thing I remember I will never forget as long as I live. I remember being covered in blood, holding my uncle in my arms as I pulled a dagger from his chest. He held me close and whispered to me as a Thalmor and two Justiciars rush into the shop and drag me away from my uncles body. They placed shackles on my hands and feet and walked me through town for all to see.

Everyone gathered and watched as the Justiciars drug me through the streets in chains and when confronted about what I had done by Achaius, the Thalmor proclaimed that I had murdered my uncle. As the look of shock came across Achaius’ and everyone else’s face, I couldn’t say anything, or deny the accusations. Even when Sheanna begged for me to tell them it wasn’t so, I couldn’t. I knew it was true, my uncle was dead, and by my own hands.

We entered the City and they brought me to the Imperial prison locking me up in one of the cells. The Justiciars walked away but the Thalmor stayed behind, removing his hood and glaring at me through the cell door. I could feel his eyes trying to burn a hole into me as he told me, “Now you will learn your place! Tomorrow the Arena gets some fresh meat! And you will rot there for the rest of your pathetic life!”. I looked up to see his face, recognizing him immediately as the Altmer who I had nearly beat to death weeks ago for fucking Syndahl. He glared at me as I looked at him and spat on me before walking away and calling me a filthy human.

So there is your answer. Happy now?

No lad, not at all. I truly am sorry.

Are we done now?

Aye lad, we are done.

Good.

And on that slightly bitter note we are out of time for today. I hope yah will join us again tomorrow when we carry on with our 28 Days of Character Development, where we will have another eye opening good time with Zander, right here on “Inside the Characters Studio”. I am yer host Oliver Clozeoff saying, “Be good, if yah can’t be good, be naughty, but be good at it.” Good night everybody!

Only 6 days left and I could still use some questions for Zander, so please, don’t hesitate to ask. If you are shy you can use the form below to send me questions or if you are not shy you can just ask them in the comments section of the blog along with any comments you might have. Thanks again all. See you for the next installment.

  1. And I loved how you brought the whole Arena/story back around to the Altmer who was with his lady.

    • Pyrelle says:

I was unsure if I should do that even though I have had Zander’s back story formed since I started the blog. That is one of a few points I still fiddle with but now that it is down permanently I am glad to see it works so well.

  2. Zander’s story reminded me of something the hubby likes to say. We’ll be watching a show where two people are fighting for their lives, and the hero prevails but doesn’t kill the other one. The hubby will say, “What did he/she do wrong?” The answer is that he left the other person alive, because they always come back and try to kill the hero again.

So what? The Thalmor used the Imperius curse on Zander and made him kill his uncle? Very nice tie-in with everything. Zander’s backstory is getting more and more puzzle pieces filled in.
